A staggering £280,000 was raised by the dinner which marked 15 years of operation for the Redbridge-based drugs and alcohol addiction charity Drugsline.
Sir Alan was joined by celebrity Jeremy Beadle, and over 400 other guests including hosts Linda and Dennis Baylin at the event at the Grosvenor Park Hotel in Park Lane.
Sir Jeremy conducted an auction, which included an Apprentice poster and book signed with a personalised message by Sir Alan. Master of ceremonies, former model Jilly Johnson, and comedian Johnnie Casson also entertained guests.
Executive director of Drugsline Rabbi Aryeh Sufrin told guests what drew him, an Orthodox rabbi, to be involved in drugs and rehabilitation.
He said: "I have witnessed and continue to do so on a daily basis, the wanton destruction that substance misuse causes to so many individuals, their friends and family.
"We need not only to continue to assist those in the grips of substance addiction but also to help young people to abstain in the first place.
"I am absolutely thrilled that we succeeded in raising so much money and want to thank everyone for their generous donations."
The money raised will help the charity to increase and develop drugs education programmes in schools, colleges and universities. Drugsline also hopes to triple the number of people currently employed to run the programmes.
