Drugsline holds Open Days

23rd June 2008,

Drugsline will be holding Open Days on Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th June to mark United Nations International Day against Drugs (26th June) and during National Misuse & Addictions Week (23rd-30th June).

The Open Days will allow the local community to learn more about Drugsline’s unique services. Service providers, service users, families, teachers, potential volunteers, local Councillors, Members of Parliament and members of the press and the general public are welcome to come and meet our staff and volunteers and to understand more about Drugsline’s work.

Visitors will be able to speak to recovering addicts, including Schools Team Leader Darren Gold, who now visits thousands of pupils each month to openly discuss the dangers of addiction and the reality of drug use.

Volunteers from the innovative Joining the Loop interfaith Partnership will also be available to explain how the multi-lingual crisis line operates and the difficulties that ethnic minority members of the community have faced when looking for appropriate addiction support.

If you are interested in getting involved with Drugsline or would like further information about the Open Days, please call 020 8554 3220.
