Golf Tournament raises much needed funds for Drugsline

10th October 2008,

Drugsline’s held its first annual Golf Tournament earlier this week raising thousands of pounds to support to support the essential work of Drugsline in supporting those affected by drug addiction and abuse and their families and friends.

The event, held at Abridge Golf Club in Stapleford Tawney in Essex, was organised by the newly formed Drugsline Events Team, who aim to engage more people with the charity’s values and raise much needed funds for Drugsline’s services – including the unique schools programme, soon to be launched crisis line for young people, and the out-of-hours adult counseling group.

Following an exhilarating round of golf, participants gathered for a three course dinner and were entertained by guest speaker Penny Mallory – Champion Rally Driver and TV presenter.

Christina Ball, Drugsline’s Operations Director, commented:

“I am always struck by the dedication, loyalty and total commitment of long-standing volunteers, new recruits and members of staff; today was about more than fundraising – critical as it is – but was a way for us to set the standard for our future as a charity.

“We are very grateful to our Events team for facilitating the activities and to everyone who supported us.

“I am confident that the Events Team will be able to organise many more successful events; Drugsline operates on a national level and these funds are hugely significant to us and make a huge impact on our work.”
