Drugsline, the drugs and alcohol rehabilitation charity based in north-east London, will be hosting a stakeholder forum on Wednesday 8 March at their helpline and drop in centre in Gants Hill. Rabbi Sufrin, Director of Drugsline, will be hosting an open-floor discussion on how drugs and alcohol problems in the area can be solved by a joined-up approach.
In attendance will be councillors from the London Borough of Redbridge, members of the council’s Drug Action Team and local politicians, including local MP, Lee Scott and Iain Duncan-Smith, MP for the neighbouring Chingford and Woodford Green constituency. Other influential community members, including representatives from the local police force, teachers, lawyers, doctors and specialist workers will also be attending.
The event is entirely non-denominational and faith leaders from all the religious communities in the area have been invited to attend.
Commenting on the event, Rabbi Aryeh Sufrin, Director of Drugsline, said: “Drugs policy remains high on the political agenda and it is important that all stakeholders make their voices heard. We need to start tackling the serious problems drug and alcohol misuse gives rise to – and they do not end at the boundary of the local authority. I am looking forward to establishing ways in which we can work together locally to deliver the best service for our area.”
