Achievements

Over its 17 year history, Drugsline has responded to many thousands of calls from drug and alcohol users, their families and affected others, providing a lifeline for those who reach out for help.

In the past year, to April 2008, our achievements include:

Drugs education

  • In the academic year 2007-08, 31,500 children participated in our unique school educational programmes.
  • The schools outreach team visited 90 schools and youth organisations across 10 boroughs of London and Essex.
  • Schools workers also visited schools in Scotland, Hertfordshire and North Yorkshire.
  • Over 100 parents have attended parents drugs awareness sessions.

Crisis support line

  • We currently answer in excess of 600 calls a year to the crisis line, from drug and alcohol users, families and affected others.
  • The service is also provided in Gujarati, Bengali, Urdu, Hebrew and Yiddish.

Counselling

  • More than 650 one-to-one counselling sessions were held during the year.

Volunteering

  • 65 volunteers are trained in basic listening and counselling skills, and respond to telephone calls and see drop-in clients.
  • The volunteer training course has been accredited by OCN (Open College Network).
